Revenue Sharing
Native challenges the status quo where substantial brokerage fees, generally hidden from both communities and buyers, often overshadow the actual value delivered to projects and local communities. Investigations have revealed brokers selling carbon credits for up to seven times their purchase price, while communities receive only a fraction of this markup. Communities receive as little as 14% of the revenue from carbon credit sales, and in some cases, nothing at all.
Native’s model aims to upend this disparity by ensuring that 80-90% of the revenue from primary sales of our Squares benefits the indigenous communities from whose territories they are derived.
Moreover, we levy an 8% fee on secondary market transactions, with 5% allocated to the communities. This ensures that they continue to benefit from any appreciation in the value of NbS Squares, reinforcing their self-governance and funding their ongoing conservation efforts.
